Please Don’t Vote for Joe Kennedy

It looks like Ed Markey’s days in the senate are numbered. I don’t love Ed Markey, he’s a slightly-left establishment Democrat whom I think has shown little independence, but at least he has attempted to achieve things for Massachusetts, and unlike so many other senators and senate candidates he has shown no interest in running for president and considering his current age I do not expect him to do so.

Joe Kennedy, on the other hand, has been in congress for over six years and has accomplished almost nothing. I lived in Kennedy’s district for four years, and unlike Markey, he is only interested in using the senate seat as a springboard for the presidency; like his family always has.
What we are seeing today is a repeat of Joe Kennedy’s entrance into the House of Representatives. In 2012 long time congressman Barney Frank decided to retire after holding his seat for over 30 years. Enter Joe Kennedy an entitled rich kid who has never had to work for anything himself. Before Kennedy entered the race for Franks seat there were at least 6 Democrats about to announce but all of them dropped out rather than waste time trying to compete with Kennedy’s wealth.

While in office Kennedy proceeded to do nothing, except for occasionally voting to make the country worse. Such as on July 24th 2013 when he voted against an amendment which would have restricted the NSA’s ability to spy on American citizens. Or a year later when on June 19th 2014, when he voted against ending the continued military action in Iraq, or on the same day when he voted to continue providing weapons to Syria.I could go on but I think you get the picture. Kennedys voting record leaves a lot to be desired.
That’s of course assuming he is even there to vote. According to govtrack.org, Joe Kennedy has missed more than double the median number of missed roll call votes, among legislators. In total he has missed almost 200 votes. That’s 200 votes where the district I grew up in was not represented.
Kennedy is a bad legislator running on his money and his family, much like the other Kennedys.I hope the people of Massachusetts, realize that the Kennedys haven’t gotten us far. I don’t care if you support Ed Markey, Shannon Liss-Riordan, or Allen Waters. Just please don’t elevate Kennedy to the senate, he is doing enough damage where he is.
